Congratulations on taking this first important step for yourself. It takes bravery to identify when help is needed and even more to reach out and seek help. Counseling can be scary, and many individuals are nervous about the process. The perception is that counseling is an individual being analyzed by a stranger, but I have a very personable approach that makes counseling a two-way conversation. This process is about us working together.
I have been fortunate enough to have had a career that has given me opportunities to expand my knowledge in mental health with a hands on approach. I have been able to learn from a wide variety of diagnoses, each with their own unique experiences. This combined with my education allows me to serve my clients in a approach that is tailored for each individual.
I am skilled in assisting people to develop coping skills, exploring areas of an individual’s life, and assisting in processing trauma. I’ve had the pleasure of working with all ages, individual, couples, and family units. I have a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and a Master's in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A&M University in San Antonio. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor for the State of Texas. Personally, I am a breast cancer survivor, and this means a lot to me and has shaped how I approach my life and my career.
I truly and whole-heartily enjoy my profession. For me, counseling isn't always a structured formal approach. Not every situation arrives at the same resolution. You are the expert of your life and I am here to help guide you to where you want to be.
Hope we talk soon.
